My bunny has a bald spot with discolored skin. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 7 months and 13 days old | 3 lbs

I noticed a bald patched on my bunny Daisy's left side. She was spayed back in October and her belly fur has since grown back. In the bald patch there is some discoloration. She is acting herself, playing eating pooping and peeing. What would cause this and should I be worried?

Thanks for reaching out about Daisy and including a photo. This could be an abnormal shed, but also over self-grooming due to external parasites (fleas, mites), pain, endocrine disorders and more. If the lesion continues or grows, a veterinary visit is recommended. Good luck.
