Why is my cockatiel's poop runny and yellow, but he seems fine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Cockatiel | Male | 2 years and 4 months old | 0.19 lbs

My cockatiel started pooping runny yellow/brown-ish poop today, he doesn't seem to be sick since he is playing like usual, flying around and standing on one foot. There is no change in his diet as well so that shouldn't be the reason, his poop is usually solid green and white, the only reason i could think of is having a cold or something like that but idk.. what could this be?

Thanks for reaching out about Kody and including a photo. This could be an indication of a gastrointestinal upset, infection, metabolic disorder and other causes. Since remains alert, monitor for now, but if the stool change continues, a veterinary visit is recommended. Birds are great at hiding their true condition, so if the stool change persists, be proactive. Good luck.
