Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Male | neutered | 2 years and 10 months old | 15.4 lbs
Hi, when I came home last night, my 2 year old cat was breathing very rapidly, seemed lethargic, wasn’t meowing (normally very vocal) and not really eating or drinking. I watched him all night and while he’s still breathing fast now, he’s eating treats and drinking water, is moving around more but sleepy. I took him to the vet for a wellness checkup Monday and they said he was totally healthy minus some tapeworms they gave profender for. Is this a side effect? Should I take him in or wait/watch?

No, I recommend to have Harlem examined immediately. This could be an emergency situation. When pets suddenly develop a change in their breathing pattern, they need to be examined immediately. This is especially true for cats who can hide signs of heart disease and not have any murmurs or other clues on physical examine. Other causes include infection, asthma or fluid in the lungs. Have him examined right away. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
