Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 12 years and 9 months old | 97 lbs
My pittie mix (12 yrs old, neutered) gets these crusty, sometimes weepy scabs on his back/shoulders. When the scab comes off, so does all the hair. I thought it was allergies, but he doesn't seem itchy, has been on 2x/day Apoquel all year, has been on flea prevention since his rescue, and no allergies to his current food and treats. What causes these, how do we prevent them, and how do we treat them when they show up?

It looks like she has a skin infection, likely secondary to having allergies. You can bathe her with a medicated shampoo, like Douxo Chlorhexidine, and see if the lesions resolve. Otherwise, she needs to be examined by a vet for an antibiotic to treat the infection.
