My cat is sneezing with eye discharge and puffy eyes. Should I go to vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Nebelung | Male | 5 years and 2 months old | 12 lbs

My indoor cat (4 years old) has been sneezing a lot for the past 3 days. He has had a tiny bit of eye discharge (it was mostly white but a little yellow tinted) and his eyes are puffy as well. He is breathing normally. I am unsure if I should take him to the vet or not. He is eating normally and has his full appetite. He also is grooming himself and has energy but I can tell he does not feel good. I've been making sure he's drinking enough as well. Should I take him to the vet irregardless?

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It sounds that Kitten has cat flu. I would suggest a visit at your local vets as Kitten may have fever, conjunctivitis, sore tongue or gums. A short course of anti-inflammatory medication and potentially pain killers will likely make him more comfortable.
