Why is my dog licking and nipping his legs? Is it a skin problem?

My dog keeps licking and sometimes nipping at the area around his back left leg and right front leg

It doesn't look too serious, but he may have a mild skin infection or maybe a small abrasion from playing or running around outside. Keep the area clean and dry. You can wash it a couple of times a day with a mild soap and warm water and make sure ALL the soap is gone afterward, otherwise the residue will create more irritation. A warm damp washcloth is peerfect for this. If it doesn't resolve or gets worse in the next few days, I recommend getting him in to see your vet to make sure he doesn't need more intensive or different treatment to cleaar up his skin.
