Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 16 lbs
My cat has food allergies and is on hill's z/d and has been for 7 years. In the past two months he has started to itch and pull his fur out. He has not eaten anything other than his prescription food. Fast forward -two prednizone shots later ear medicine for yeast and a skin antibiodic for over $600.00 total he is still pulling out his fur and scratching and they are refusing to change his food.

Allergies can be caused by food, fleas, or environmental allergens. It’s possible he has an environmental allergy in addition to the food allergy. You could talk to your vet about using allergy medications to see if that helps. You could also take him to a dermatologist for allergy testing. Pulling out fur can also be a sign of anxiety so you could also try a Feliway diffuser and see if that helps.
