My 9 week old puppy has had runny poops for the whole week we've had him. I've read him plain rice today as bland food was suggested, but I'm worried he is dehydrated as his nose is very dry. He does drink a lot of water but with the runny poop I'm concerned he has lost access fluid. How can I get more fluids into him?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Reggie. Coming to a new home can be stressful for a young puppy. Soft stool can result. However, if the stool has been runny for an entire week, this is too long. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian. He will be examined to determine if he is dehydrated. If so, fluids may need to be given. Fecal testing will likely be performed. Intestinal parasites and other gastrointestinal infections are very common in young puppies. Based on these results, medication will be prescribed to help the stool. In the meantime, encourage him to drink. You can offer low sodium chicken broth if this helps. I hope this information helps!
