My dog has a red spot in his eye. Is it serious? What should I do?

Recently I've noticed a red/purple spot in my Great Oyrenees left eye (only his left). His behavior seems unchanged (eats well and very active). However i do not want to disregard this and my local vet are super unhelpful. Do I need to be concerned? What all do I need to get for him?? (Repost but with the photos)

Hello. This looks like hyphema, the presence of blood in the anterior chamber of the eye. This can occur from anything like a simple trauma to the eye, to cancer, so treatment really depends on the cause. If there is any chance there was some trauma to the eye ( being hit with a ball could do this ), then treatment is nothing & the blood will reabsorb over time. If this is due to an infection or something more serious, then it may need to be treated. I am not sure why your veterinarians are unhelpful, perhaps you need to find someone else. I can tell you that the rest of the eye looks quiet & non-painful, so it is not an emergency, but I would have this evaluated at your earliest convenience. Thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
