My hamster has diarrhea and is sick. Should I take him to the vet?

My hamster has having diarrhea. saw it saturday and it had a little blood, but after that just the diarrhea. He drinks a lot of water except for yesterday. He doenst eat as much as normal, he seemed to be getting better but now he doesnt go on his wheel. I am affraid he dies on his way to the vet bcs he gets to stressed just to get change from his cage to other place and i dont wanna disturb him. I dont know if they can do something in the vet. Also scent gland is dark ( for some time)

Hello. The first thing you need to do is have a fecal sample analyzes by your veterinarian. Do not stress Tobias out by bringing him to the vet, just drop a sample off for the stool analysis. Then, go from there. If you are feeding him a predominately seed diet, you need to switch him to a lab/rodent chow. Go very slow in switching him over. To increase fluid intake, offer him pureed vegetable baby foods. If the stool analysis is negative for anything significant, then you may need to have him examined for a good exam, including an oral one, & possible further treatment.
