Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 55 lbs
About an hour ago my three year old, 55 lb pit bull ate two 200mg Ibuprofen tablets after eating a full meal. I gave her hydrogen peroxide but she won’t vomit, she is acting normal thus far, should I be concerned?

Ibuprofen toxicity in dogs is very serious. The symptoms do not show up right away in most cases. She definitely ingested twice the normal recommended dosage for a dog her size. It is best to get her to a vet ASAP for treatment. ( https://www.petplace.com/article/drug-library/drug-library/library/ibuprofen-motrin-advil-etc-for-dogs-2/ )

Intoxication would depend on the dosage ingested. Considering Evita is quite small (5kg?) intoxication may occur and I would strongly recommend an immediate veterinary check up and treatment. Gastroprotectants, activated charcoal, IV fluids may be needed. Main side effects are gastrointestinal and renal (bleeding from ulcers, renal failure and others) and may occur even 24-36hours after ingestion.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question. Yes, I would take her into an ER vet to be safe. She needs blood work done. Ibuprofen causes damage to make different organs, including the liver, and it can take days for this damage to show up in clinical signs. I'd have the dog seen by a vet now. Best of luck.

Your dog is quite small, if you suspect he might have ingested an Ibuprofen tablet i would recommend taking him to the vet urgently in order to induce vomiting and give him supportive treatment, Ibuprofen toxicity can cause fatal kidney failure.
