Why is my 10-week puppy losing hair on her head with bumps and scabs?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 18 days old | 10 lbs

I have a 10 week old puppy and recently (within the last week) noticed her hair thinning on top of her head and bumps and small scabs start to show up. She hasn't gotten any of her shots yet (her appointment is next week) but I am very concerned about her and would like to do anything I can to keep my baby healthy!

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Judging from the pictures you provided, I suspect that Rosie may have Demodex mites causing the hair loss and red bumps to occur or a skin infection. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Rosie so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Demodex mites can be treated with Nexgard or Bravecto (both are flea and tick preventatives) which you will need a prescription for. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction!
