My dog has a sore on her chin/neck. Is it a hot spot? What to do?

My dog, Motely, has some sort of scrape or open sore on the bottom of her chin/on her neck! Is this a problem, if so how do I fix it?

Hello, sorry to hear about Motley. It looks like she has a hot spot there, which is essentially a local infection from her itching at that spot. This can be associated with allergies or perhaps it could have been brought on by a local irritation (such as a bug bite). The area needs to be clipped and cleaned to remove all the dirty debris. She will need to wear an e-collar to protect the area from being scratched on and she will need anti-itch medication and antibiotics. Have her seen by her veterinarian to obtain these medications and have them take a look at the area. Hope this helps and best of luck.
