Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 18 lbs
Layla has been unwell since Friday. It started with really bad gas all night, then the next day she wouldn't eat or drink. Then when she finally did eat she vomitted and now has very little appetite. Whenever she eats, even a small portion, she vomits it back up. The vomit has yellow liquid and foam init along with the food. Her stomache is making crazy loud noises. I've been told it's hyper acidity and with rabiprazole 20mg once a day it should resolve. Could it be anything else??

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Layla! Causes of vomiting are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, dietary indiscretion, foreign body causing a blockage, pancreatitis, inflammation of the intestines (IBD), food allergy/intolerance, reaction to a new food/treat/table food. The loud noises from her stomach is gas moving abnormally quick through the GI tract. This can cause cramping and nausea. Since it has been 5 days I think Layla needs to be seen by your Vet today. You can try to fast her for 12-24 hours then restart feeding with a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger mixed with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day for 3-5 days. if she continues to vomit while fasted, can't hold down water, will not eat or continues to vomit after she eats she absolutely needs to be seen by the Vet. I wish Layla the best!
