What is this small cyst-like bump on my cat's head near her ear?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 8 years and 10 months old | 8 lbs

Hello all! My cat seems to have a small cyst like bump on the top of her head near her ear. I was wondering if anyone knew what this might be? I considered taking her into the vet, but I thought I would check in here first to get an idea as to what the bump might be. Thank you ahead of time for your response!

This looks like a wart or benign skin growth. These are common in animals and older animals seem to get more of them as they age. This is nothing to be overly concerned about. I recommend monitoring it for any change and bringing her in for an exam if it is inflamed or enlarging. Also have your veterinarian look at it and feel it at your next regular visit.
