My new puppy won't eat and has loose poop after coming home.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | 2 months and 1 day old | 17.5 lbs

My puppy Teddy is a 9weeks pure bred German Shepherd Male. We brought Teddy in our home 3 days ago. He is not eating any food. We are giving him the same food he used to eat at the breeder. His poop is also little loose. He is completely rejecting his current food for last 24 hours. He is active though.

He might have a decreased appetite from stress and trying to adjust to his new environment. Continue to offer him food and hopefully he will begin to eat once he feels more comfortable. If he doesn't start eating, becomes lethargic, or starts vomiting then he should be examined by a vet. You should also have a vet test his stool for intestinal parasites. Your vet can also recommend a vaccine schedule based on his lifestyle and risks of exposure to infectious diseases.
