Is neutering my male rabbit necessary if vets aren't rabbit experts?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered

Hello, My rabbit is around 2 years olds. I got him from a pet store 1.5 years ago. The pet store owner told me he was male but I am not sure as he had very little knowledge cause he told me rabbits don’t drink water and I was told to feed the rabbit rice. It is very hard to find a vet in my city and all of them are trained to treat farm animals. I don’t trust any vet here to perform my rabbit’s neuter. Is it mandatory to neuter my rabbit? Should I risk to neuter my rabbit?

The problem with intact male rabbits is they can act aggressive when they hit sexually maturity, but if Casper isn't aggressive with you (and I would not get another male rabbit!), then it may be ok not to do it. I'd say if he's able to be handled well and isn't aggressive, don't do it. If you had a vet you trusted, then I would say to do it. I hope this helps.
