I think my German Shepherd is becoming aggressive how can I stop this Behavior he has lunged at me bit me when I have treats and I'm trying to correct his behavior as far as being possessive with toys. How am I supposed to discipline my German Shepherd puppy that is 6 months old without making him mean everything I look at online says to ignore the behavior and reward good behavior it's kind of hard to ignore the behavior that is bad when this huge dog is chasing me out of my room please help.

I never recommend owners deal with aggressive behavior on their own due to the safety risks. I recommend speaking to Maximus's vet about a referral to a professional behavioral expert to deal with this behavior now.

I am so sorry to hear about Lucky. First of all it is NEVER ok for a dog to be biting a person. Even though German shepherds are known as being loyal, I can tell you from experience that they are well known among vets as being very anxious and even aggressive. The first thing I recommend is getting him neutered immediately. This helps decrease some aggressive and protective behaviors. The next step is to get him on anti anxiety medication as these dogs are often lashing out in fear. This does not mean you have done anything wrong or that your correcting him has caused this - this anxiety is probably something he was born with that has gotten worse with age. Finally, firm, consistent training is key. If you can hire a professional or send him to a camp - even better. Most dogs will respond well to this combination. But occasionally there is one who does not. If Lucky continues to bite after these steps - especially if it is causing harm to humans- I recommend humane euthanasia. Even though this is a hard decision, it is one I help owners make occasionally. There are too many kind, non-aggressive dogs and puppies waiting for adoption to be living with a dog who is hurting people. Best wishes to you and Lucky!
