My dog Chloe has a lump that is not visible but felt underneath the skin. (On her left shoulder) I'm making an appointment with my vet tommrow. What are the chances that this lump is cancerous? She is turning 6 in June. im slightly worried since She had never had anything like this appear before. Thanks!

Not being able to palpate and see the lump it is hard to say. This could be a cyst, a hematoma, a seroma, an abscess, an encapsulated foreign body, a benign or malignant growth or a muscle problem. Your vet will do a FNA, fine needle aspirate, where material from the mass is harvested, and this will help diagnose the type of mass. Most masses can be removed. No point in worrying yet about what it is. Cross that bridge when you get to it. Your vet will discuss options with you.
