Can I introduce a young pet store guinea pig to my older one?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 26 days old

I have to wait until I move out of my parents house to get a second guinea pig for my current one. I will be moving out in June. Is it okay to introduce him to a new guinea pig from a pet store? Would the new guinea pig be too young to be introduced to my current one?

As long as you introduce them gradually, you should be fine. A clear divider can be used to allow them to see, hear and smell one another but not physically reach one another until they are acclimated.
