My green cheek conure's voice is raspy and sneezy. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

We rescued a green cheek conure back in August. He has been a great bird. Social, chatty and such. Within the last couple of days his vocalization has changed and appears to be sneezy. Almost a raspy sound to his voice but otherwise still social, eating well, eyes look fine and no crustyness around his break holes. Should we be concerned?

Hello, I would recommend taking your bird to a veterinarian when possible. This sounds like it could be an upper respiratory infection, which is common in pet birds. This often requires a course of antibiotics, depending on the extent of infection. Your vet can guide you best after their exam. I hope this helps.
