My dog has a painful red bump on his paw. Could it be a growth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Male | neutered | 9 months and 14 days old | 28 lbs

I have noticed that my bubba has this red bump that never goes away. He does not like for me to touch it. I figured many it was one of his toes but I don’t really know the anatomy of a dog and I couldn’t really feel one on the same side on the opposite foot. I hope it’s not a growth he’s had since he was a little puppy.. where the red dot is, there’s a small pink nub there but it’s hard to see with all of his fur and he doesn’t like for me to touch it.

He probably had his dewclaws removed by the breeder when he was only a few days old and that one was not done correctly. I suggest you have your vet examine it. If it is painful for him, surgical removal would be recommended.
