Why does my cat have raised spots, fur loss, and licking her leg?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Feral | Female | spayed | 5 years and 3 months old | 9 lbs

My black kitty Pepper has several raised spots on one of her front legs for several weeks. She has been cleaning the area and worn off the fur. Any idea what this would be? I do not have a vet at this time.....but looks like I will need one. She is an indoor outdoor rescue. Thank you.

Hello, I'm concerned by the circular patches of hair loss and skin flaking that her skin is infected. This commonly happens with bacteria or fungi (like ringworm, which is contagious to people). I'd recommend making an appointment to get her seen by a vet soon. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
