My senior dog has a red eye. Is it a scratch or something serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | unneutered | 10 years and 2 months old | 28.6 lbs

I'm taking him to the vat in two days (vets are closed tomorrow) I think he scratched his eye, and Im using some teardrops (ofteno) but the red part is still there, does this has a name so I can investigate more?

This appears to be a "cherry eye" but it is not a common problem in this age dog. It usually first manifests in puppies. At his age I would be a bit worried that this is a cancerous tumor. Definitely get him to the vet for an exam. Chances are that surgery is needed to correct this problem.
