My rescue dog won't eat dry food. Should I give him human food?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 3 years old | 61 lbs

Hi, I adopted an American pitbull terrier from the local shelter on Wednesday evening. On Thursday he wouldn’t eat the dry food so I gave him boiled rice and chicken. He ate a bowl of it. Friday same thing except he ate a couple of chicken fingers. Saturday morning I tried giving him some egg with a hotdog cut up in it. He ate a little bit of it. For the rest of Saturday I didn’t give him any table food, I assumed when he got hungry enough he’d eat his dog food. It’s now 3am and hasn’t eaten

Dogs can go many day without eating. He will not perish after not eating for a day. I suggest you get some canned dog food to mix with his dry food. Don't make a big deal about him eating. Just put the food down and walk away. Leave it down for 10 minutes. If he doesn't eat it pick it up - all the while ignoring him. Do not say a word. After a few hours you can do the same thing. Just keep repeating this process until he eats. It is also best to feed him outside (if possible) so he is not distracted by people or begging for human food. He should never be around people when they are eating. He should be put outside or in another room. Human food is really bad to feed dogs. If he is acting sick he needs to see a vet.
