My dog had jelly like bright red in her stoll this morning. No vomiting and has been eating and playing this morning. Should I take her in or keep an eye on her?

This is a quite typical sign of colitis (inflammation of the colon). As a first approach, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Hello. Bright red jelly like stool is an indication of inflammation in the colon. It can be caused by a bacterial infection, dietary indigestion or parasites. If Rolo has another episode, I would have her checked out to make sure this does not escalate into something more serious. But if she is acting well, observation is fine for now.
