Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Poodle | Male | neutered | 9 years and 10 months old | 11.3 lbs
This evening my dog was running on the grass, then all of the sudden he yelps and starts limping. The limp occurs on his left back leg. He cannot seem to put the leg down either. He's all normal, drinking, eating and trying to move around. There is no swelling or anything visible on the outside of the leg. Its currently night here and I have to wait for the morning to bring him to a veterinary. What should I do/what is the problem?

Poor Custard! He may have strained or torn as muscle or ligament. I recommend resting him for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Best of luck.

It sounds like Jordan could have strained a ligament while running around, or he could have done something more serious such as torn a ligament. I recommend resting him for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a lead only, and bring him right back in when he's done. Good luck, I hope this helps!
