This may be a sign of discomfort or possibly due to being nervous or anxious for any reason. I would also make sure that it is not because it is too hot or too cold. If it is not and this continues, it may be a good idea to have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment to make sure that there is nothing important going on. Best of luck!
