My dog's red, tender thigh spot with pus is getting worse. Help!

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 4 years and 11 months old | 79 lbs

My dog has a spot on her thigh. Pus was coming out of it for a few days. Saw the vet 2 days ago and she didn’t know what it is, but she shaved the area. The whole area is tender to touch. My dog hasn’t licked it or scratched it. The area is getting more and more red every day. I’m cleaning the area twice a day with MalAcetic wipes and putting Isaderm gel on it. They don’t seem to be helping. Could you please help?

Thank you for submitting tour question regarding Nella. If you are seeing pus and the area is getting bigger, I am concerned that she has an infection. It could on the skin or even under the skin such as an abscess. I would contact her veterinarian as oral antibiotics may be needed now. I hope this information helps!
