Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Female | spayed | 6 years and 8 months old | 18 lbs
Grecia weighs about 20-22lbs and she is overweight and she has little to no excercise. She receives a 1/2 cup of taste of the wild lamb grain free twice daily. Her ideal weight is 15-17lbs according to my vet. Is there a weight loss food that you recommend and what amount should I feed daily? Or should I continue to use the brand I feed and just reduce the amount, if so to what amount? Also how many minutes of leash walking or miles should I do daily to help her lose weight?

You will get the best results using a weight loss formula. I recommend either Purina ProPlan or Royal Canin weight loss diets. The recommended amounts will be listed on the bags (this does vary from food to food). Just so you know, most vets do not recommend grain free diets unless the pet has a known grain allergy. Increasing Grecia's exercise will also help her to lose weight. Here are a few articles about weight loss: https://www.petcoach.co/article/weight-loss-programs/ https://www.petcoach.co/article/characteristics-of-a-good-weight-loss-diet/ Lastly, Schnauzer's can be prone to a few endocrine diseases such as hypothyroidism and cushings disease. If she is having a hard time losing the weight, have her checked for these diseases. I hope this helps and best of luck.
