My cat is improving but still sneezing on amoxicillin. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered

Rb has been on the amoxicillin for 3 in a half days and he is still sneezing. What should I do? He does t have mucus coming out of his nose anymore. He is finally eating and drinking and his wheezing slowed down but still wheezes at times.

Hi there. If I understand your description correctly, it sounds like Rb's symptoms have noticeably improved (no more mucus draining from his nose, and now eating and drinking) - so things are going well so far. It can take 1-2 weeks for symptoms of a respiratory infection to fully resolve once antibiotics have been started. As long as he's improving, I would continue giving the full course of medication as directed by your veterinarian. If he's still having any symptoms once the meds are finished, then I would take him back in for a recheck.
