Why is my puppy vomiting, not eating, and losing weight with red eyes?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Doberman Pinscher | Female | unspayed | 7 months and 25 days old | 40 lbs

We took her to get spayed, but they wouldn't take her because she wasn't feeling great. We brought her home and she was throwing up for 2 days. We took her back to the vet. They tested her for everything and took x-rays. She ended up being dehydrated. They put her on an IV for 3 days and she finally got better. About 2 days after being home she started vomiting again, and she won't eat. She is drinking plenty. And she isn't too active! Her eyes are also very red and gooey! Losing weight quickly

I suggest you get a second opinion from a different vet. I’d be a bit worried about her having distemper or some type of GI obstruction. Those would be the first two rule outs. Has she had x-rays? She looks to be in terrible shape. I think a second opinion is needed as soon as possible.
