Kitten has diarrhea for weeks, acts normal. Is it the new food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed

I have a kitten that I got 1 month ago. She is very playful eats and drinks. About 2 weeks ago she seem to all of a sudden have diarrhea. She hasn’t change in behavior. I have just changed her food to instinct wet cat food 2 days ago. The food she was eating before was blue buffalo wild wilderness adult duck formula. Kitten is about 16/17 weeks old

I would recommend having Polly examined by the vet and have her checked for intestinal parasites. Food allergies are uncommon in kittens, and changing the food probably won't help with the diarrhea. Until she is 1 year of age, she should be on kitten food, which has a higher fat content and different mineral percentages to help support her rapidly growing body.
