Why is my cat still drooling, not eating, and shivering after vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 6 months old | 7.11 lbs

My cat hasn’t been eating or drinking water, she was sleeping all day not really responding to anything and then I saw she was drooling. I went to the vet and they said she had fever and redness on the top of her mouth close to her throat. They gave me Cerenia tables to give her every 24 hours for 4 days. It’s been 2 days and she doesn’t seem to do better, she is eating wet food but it seems very hard for her to chew and swallow and she’s still drooling and acting very sad and shivering sometime

She only received Cerenia? No antibiotics or anti-iflammatories? Was any blood testing done? This is not normal. I suggest you either take her back to the vet for a follow-up or go to a different vet for a second opinion. If cost is an issue, I found these affordable clinics in your area: ( https://www.sacramentopetclinic.com/ ) ( https://www.sspca.org/overview/wellness-clinic ) Hope this helps. Best wishes.
