Dog hasn't pooped but is eating and active. Is he constipated?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 6 lbs

Charlie hasn’t pooped all night or morning. His activity level is great and he seems to be acting quite normal. He is eating and drinking water. Should I be worried?

If Charlie is acting normally, no vomiting/normal appetite/normal energy/no straining, you can try adding a teaspoon or two of canned pumpkin to his food to increase the fiber which can aide in mild constipation. If however he develops other symptoms a trip to the vet is recommended. Provide him with plenty of water and sometimes a long walk may help move things along!
