My dog has bladder stones. What are non-surgical treatment options?

Pet's info: Dog | Shihpoo | Male | 7 years and 10 months old | 20 lbs

Went to the vet to get my dog polo checked out they said he had stones in his bladder and urethra the said they tried to flush them and put a catheter in he was not sedated and was told he needed to have surgery to have them removed my question 1. is was he suppose to be sedated to flush out the stones 2. Is there a non invasive or another option cost efficient to take then straight surgery. That I can bring up with my vet

In my experience, I have sedated dogs to put in a catheter, but it may not have been necessary in Polo's case. I can't say if the vet did something wrong because I wasn't there. Depending on the type of stones, there can be urinary diets he can be put on to dissolve the stones, but again that is up to his vet. You can ask his vet about it. I hope this helps.
