My dog was stung by a wasp. Swelling won't go down, should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 5 months and 22 days old | 60 lbs

Bear was stung by a wasp yesterday afternoon (or so we think) and the swelling hasn't gone down yet. How long does it usually take for swelling to subside? Should we be concerned the swelling is still there? He is acting like his normal self and it doesnt seem to be bothering him. Thank you for your time!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It could take a couple of days to go down without medication. It should get a little smaller each day. As long as that is the only swelling (meaning no hives) and he’s eating and drinking ok you can continue to monitor him. Kisses to Bear!
