Why is my cat drooling, not eating, dirty, and wet after a seizure?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 13 years and 2 months old | 10 lbs

My cat is 12 and has been fixed. A month ago he had a seizure and ever since he's been drooling excessively. And he barely will eat but still drinks a lot. He hasn't been taking care of himself like he usually does. He always used to keep himself clean but now he's dirty from head to toe. And his belly is now soaking wet for no reason he hasn't licked it or layed in anything wet I'm very worried about him.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Seizures can occur due to many reasons that go from a toxicity, metabolic diseases, inflammatory diseases and even tumors. All these signs you describe could be related to the same thing causing the seizures or it may be a separate issue. I highly recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment. Diagnostics that will be recommended will include bloodwork and advanced imaging such as an MRI. They would also be able to start him on anti-seizure medications to try to avoid the onset of more seizures. Good luck and have a good night! Hoping for a speedy recovery!
