Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 195 lbs

My dog Sammy had a rash on his groin an in between legs area that wasn’t there last night or today we noticed it when goin to bed so when we were looking online for some reasons and freaking out it was maybe ringworm I checked him about a half hr later when he was sleeping and it’s gone almost cld barely see where it was any idea what it cld have been because I know as red as it was it Cldnt have been ringworm cause that doesn’t just disappear so was thinking maybe hives from a allergic reaction

This could be bruising from trauma. It could be hives but usually those are raised welts and not under the skin. It could be an insect bite but again, usually raised. Could be a mild bacterial skin infection but that does not usually start fading away in an a few hours. I would not be overly worried about this unless it gets worse or does not completely go away. If that happens then get him to your vet for an exam.
