My parents adopted a sweet little dog from a local nonprofit rescue group. they gave my parents the dog's vet paperwork, and a copy of the their payment check. They were supposed to have the microchip changed to my parents contact information. It has been a month and every time we call they say they're working on it. What can we do ourselves to update the information for the microchip. And will Petco do the scan for the chip number?

You can essentially do this yourselves. Just have her microchip scanned by Petco or any available facility, have them give you the microchip number, then go to this website to look up which company it is registered through --> http://www.petmicrochiplookup.org/ Once you get the contact info for the microchip company, you can then just call them yourself and identify yourself as the pets new owner, and go from there. I hope this helps and best wishes with your new puppy! Take care : )
