Hello! My puppy has been having diarrhea for 3 days now. We have eliminated all treats and bones from her diet and she is still having running stool. However, it comes and goes and sometimes the stool is hard. She is still eating, drinking, and playing as normal. Should I consult my local vets office?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Ella! Since she is so young and small it might be best to have her seen by your Vet. They can prescribe medications that will get her better faster. Bring a stool sample with you if you can. Causes of diarrhea in puppies are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, dietary indiscretion, food allergy/intolerance, new treat/food/table food. You can try a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice for a few days to see if the stools firm up but we are getting close to the weekend. I hope this helps and I wish Ella a speedy recovery!
