Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | 10 months and 21 days old | 18.5 lbs

My husky x Huntaway girl has come up in rashes by what it looks like to me. The one on her nose appeered 3 days ago and she's been rubbing it on the ground and wanting it to be scratched badly. The one on her backside has started to scare me a little. It's not shrinking in size but growing! She keeps chewing and licking it. Dosent seem sore as I can touch it but is very very itchy! She has chewd her self bald and there is no flakes in her skin but it is dry. There are little raised bumps as well

I would recommend that you have April examined by the vet. I don't think this is a rash. It could be a bacterial infection, fungal infection, or a type of mange. The vet will examine all of her skin and may take a scraping to be evaluated under the microscope to check for mites. Once the vet has a better idea as to the cause of the hair loss and itching, they can get April on an appropriate treatment. Until she sees the vet, having her wear an e-collar will limit the nose rubbing and chewing of her skin to prevent further infection or self-trauma.
