Why is my male cat suddenly peeing, pooping, and mounting everywhere?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 10 months and 27 days old | 6 lbs

My cat has been getting into people's food, pooping everywhere, peeing every where and trying to mate with our arms... It's getting worse any help? He never did this when he was a kitten and now it's worsening

These all seem like potentially unrelated problems. The mounting behavior and potentially urinating outside the litter box could be related to hormones and neutering could make a big difference. If he is urinating small puddles and not spraying droplets of urine on vertical surfaces it would be a good idea to see your vet to rule out lower urinary tract disease as a cause of the inappropriate urination. It is not uncommon for some cats to be very food motivated and to seek out food - restricting access and never giving treats can help keep this behavior in check
