Dog's deep paw cut still bleeding after 24 hours. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 40 lbs

Dog has deep laceration on paw pad. About 1mm lenght and 3mm deep (enough to see underlying skin protrude out of the paw pad when clamping closed). Still bleeds on bandages and its been 24hrs. Dog still shows norma signs in walk and eat pattern but not poop. Wondering if i can continue to allow the laceration to heal naturally with antiseptic ointment.

If it has been 24 hours and the wound is large enough that it is still bleeding it is best to seek veterinary care immediately. The wound may need to be sutured to stop the bleeding and additional treatments or medications given to prevent infection.
