My cat had kittens, but seems to be breathing heavy. Is she still in labor?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year old | 9 lbs

Bella had 2 kittens last night. She first started pushing at 9:30 pm and she finally pushed the first baby out at 11 pm. The second one came around 10 or 20 minutes later and since then she hasn't pushed anymore out. I don't know if there's even anymore but she seems to me like she's breathing kinda heavy. She's eating and drinking but I still think she might have another baby. Is it normal for her to take so long to finish giving birth if there is still a kitten?

Cats can have interrupted labor, but without seeing Bella in person, I can't say if this is normal or not. I would take her and her kittens into a vet now to get checked out to be safe. Best of luck.
