When I go away my very dear friend and neighbour looks after my dog but he refuses to eat what can do or give him to eat

This is very difficult. Most often than not there is nothing you can do for this. If I were you, I would try to find a canned food he likes a lot and then only give it to him when you are away. This may help. The other option is to talk to your vet about an appetite stimulant medication (ENTYCE or mirtazipine) to see if that will work.
