My dog has bumps on chest & armpits, licking. Could it be allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | spayed | 3 years and 1 month old | 15.43 lbs

Good day, Mu Dachshund girl has a small bumps on her chest and armpits. I had her at a vet and she was given antibiotics and some cortisone, initially the bumps went away for about two weeks, and now it is back. It doesn't seem to itch, although she keeps on licking her arm pits. Could you please give me some advise on this situation? Thank you in advance.

Poor girl, that looks very uncomfortable. I would be very suspicious that Bella has allergies to something that she's still being exposed to. The most common causes of allergies are food, fleas, and the environment (like human hay fever). I would recommend going back to the vet to confirm there isn't something more acute going on (like a new superficial infection) and then discuss possibility of allergies. She may need a longer course of antibiotics and/or oral steroids to calm her immune system down as well.
