My cat ate cooked chicken bones. When should I worry and see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | spayed | 16 years and 3 months old | 8 lbs

My cat recently ate some cooked chicken bones. She became very constipated and started vomiting very dark brown. I assumed her vomit was dark brown because of the Friskies canned Pate we feed her, which is also very brown. This was 3 days ago, she has not thrown up since, she still has an appetite, and does not appear to be constipated, (Though im not sure if shes pooping) What should I watch for to make sure the cooked chicken bones are not a threat to her?

Hello, and thanks for your question about Frankie. The most important things to monitor are her appetite, and watch for vomiting. If she's gone 3 days now without vomiting, and with a good appetite, that's a very good sign and she will likely be fine. But if her appetite drops or she starts vomiting again, then she should be seen by a vet. Hope this helps!
