My dog has a red scraped rash on his groin. Is it an emergency?

Hello, my dog has a red rash/scraped area near his groin. I saw him licking it he area and noticed it was very red. It is not bleeding but is extremely red and looks like blood is just under the skin. I was unable to find a vet in town available today and want to make sure this rash it is not a symptom of a serious emergency medical condition. My dog seems to be behaving completely normal other than trying to lick the area. No fever, stool is normal, eating and drinking normally.

It looks like something may have scraped this area - I’m wondering if there’s anything outside he could have rubbed against. Bruising can sometimes look this way as well so if you see anything like this anywhere else on his body like his belly, inner ears or gums you should see a vet right away. Otherwise I’d prevent licking (use an e-collar if necessary) and monitor for a day or two. If it doesn’t get better check in with your vet.
