Is dog dental water additive safe for my cat with bladder crystals?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 3 years and 8 months old | 14.4 lbs

I recently bought a water additive for my dog who has tartar buildup. Him and my cat both drink from the same water bowl, but my cat gets crystals in his bladder if his diet isn’t right. Will this be okay to introduce to my cat or will he get sick?

I don’t know for certain, but it is possible that this could change the pH in Jax’s urine leading to a recurrence of crystals. It’s difficult to know what dietary changes will affect he pH. You fools consider having your cat’s urine checked now and repeating in a few weeks to see if there are changes to the pH or crystals seen.
